Lessons Learned In the Middle of a Media Firestorm

When you are involved in a story regarding the death of the biggest pop star in the world; you learn crazy things. Today I will share my top three for our involvement in the Michael Jackson case.

1. When the media wants an answer to a question they will keep calling until they get it. There is no ignoring the media when they want to know something. They will even call your home to catch you unexpectedly in the middle of the night at 2:00 AM.
2. When the media wants an exclusive interview they will offer you anything: money, food baskets, signed letters from media personalities and caps and t-shirts.
3. When very little information is coming out of your camp some tabloid media will misconstrue nearly everything you say so choose your words carefully and ask that reporters repeat your quote back to you.
