New Report: One Third of Lawyers Plan to Hire in the Third Quarter

Great post today from Larry Bodine's law marketing blog. Legal hiring remains a bright spot in a transitional economy, with one-third of attorneys interviewed for The Robert Half Legal Hiring Index indicating they plan to add legal jobs this quarter. Among the findings:
  • 33 percent of lawyers interviewed plan to hire full-time staff in the next three months. Just 2 percent plan staff cutbacks. The net 31 percent increase is up five points from last quarter’s survey.
  • 83 percent of lawyers are confident in their organizations’ prospects for growth in the third quarter.
  • 47 percent of lawyers said it is challenging to find skilled legal professionals, up 6 points from the previous survey.

The new report tracking legal hiring was released today by Robert Half Legal, a specialized staffing firm placing lawyers, paralegals and legal support staff on a project and full-time basis. You can find full survey results at
