If this doesn't make you want to call Go Daddy and buy every single domain name with your name, nothing will. The Texas Lawyer writes about an Austin bankruptcy lawyer who had to obtain a TRO March 6 against a former disgruntled client to stop publishing websites the lawyer claims made defamatory and false statements about him.
The websites in question which featured Michael Baumer's full name as the domain contained derogatory statements like, "[D]on't trust this lawyer, [H]e reneged,lied and stole from me."
Baumer alleges his business decreases 27% in 2011, affecting his income.
Lesson learned: go out and spend the money to protect your online reputation!
