Make the Most of Your AVVO Profile

Many attorneys reach out to me wondering what the purpose is of claiming and working their AVVO profile. I always answer the first and foremost purpose is because AVVO is a highly regarded and ranked site, it most likely will show up on the first page of Google when a potential client or referral searches for your name.

Also because unclaimed attorney profiles are sometimes auto-filled with information, some of that content may be incorrect and project the wrong information about you.  The first step in claiming is free and simple.  Commit yourself to filling in and uploading as much information about yourself as possible.

Next, reach out to former clients, and peers you have worked with with the link to your profile and request they review you.  Don't worry- it won't take many to make a dramatic improvement in your score.  AVVO scores are based on content provided by attorneys, no disciplinary black marks on an attorney's record and recommendations. 

Finally check your profile periodically for reviews and update your information.  A good AVVO score will pay off in reputation protection and as a credible third-party endorsement!
