Governor Scott Walker’s legal defense fund paid almost $10,000
dollars to a public relations firm, in the weeks before his June 5th
recall election.
The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign found the payment in an IRS filing,
which showed that the Walker camp gave over $9,900 to the Chicago firm
of APCO Worldwide.
The filing does not say exactly what the money was used for.
The expense was paid out of a fund of about $160,000 that Governor
Walker set up for costs related to a John Doe investigation into his
former aides when he was the Milwaukee County executive. A half-dozen
former aides and associates have been charged with crimes ranging from
illegal campaigning to embezzlement.
